Volunteer at VTG 2024

Volunteers are an integral part of VTG and are vital in creating the amazing atmosphere that VTG is; and ensuring the many different events that make up VTG run smoothly. Volunteering means you can be part of this amazing event, meet lots of great people and build your sporting event management experience.

Tasks

  • Registering participants at the registration hub

  • Using the online registration system

  • Assisting as an official/assistant in an event before, during and after the competition

Hours

Volunteers will be required for a minimum of four hours, to assist in an allocated event. The VTG team will work within the availability of the volunteer.

Main Duties

  • Customer service

  • Officiating and assisting at VTG events

  • Registration administration

  • Photography/social media

  • General event hand

  • Assisting VTG team in misc. tasks

Skills & Experience

  • Desired Attributes: Friendly, adaptable & cooperative, a basic understanding of technology, knowledge of how to use a laptop, fit & able to work accordingly in sporting environments

  • Desired Experience: Experience is valued, but not vital

  • Desired Skills: Organised, excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to meet deadlines, fast learner, confident in customer service

  • Receive a volunteer polo, event showbag & identification • If you work as a volunteer for over 4 hours, you will be catered for with a lunch pack

 

  • If you are a student as part of an Event Management or similar course, volunteering at VTG may allow you to complete your individual event management experience as part of your practicum requirements

 

  • Volunteers are bound by VTG’s Participant Behaviour Policy, which outlines appropriate behaviour expectations for all personnel who are participating in and/or are involved with the event

 

  • All participants of the Victorian Teachers' Games may be required to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 (or have a valid exemption) in order to take part. This requirement will be updated in accordance with the advice of the Victorian Health Minister and any directions issued pursuant to the Public Health and Wellbeing Act 2008 (Vic) at the time of the event. Note that each individual Venue may be permitted to enforce its own policy regarding admission of vaccinated / unvaccinated patrons, and that these requirements may be outside of VTG’s authority. As such delivery of the VTG will be subject to and contingent upon advice in relation to the coronavirus (COVID-19) in the lead-up to the event

 

  • As a Department of Education  event, you will be covered with Personal Accident Insurance when assisting as a volunteer at VTG
