WHILE 2021 DIDN'T GO AHEAD, 2022 IS LOOKING GOOD...

The 25th edition of the Victorian Teachers’ Games (VTG) was scheduled to take place from 19-22 September 2021 in the City of Greater Geelong. However the event was cancelled in August due to ongoing restrictions surrounding the coronavirus pandemic, and postponed until 2022.

Despite the uncertainty throughout 2021, VTG still saw an amazing 2,559 participants register to attend the event, which demonstrates the interest and support for the event amongst Victorian educators.

With 53 unique events on offer and a brand-new format that introduced far more flexibility into a participant’s day, it’s not hard to see why Victorian educators were excited to sign up for VTG25.
The new format gave participants the opportunity to design a unique VTG itinerary, choosing from 134 different sessions across the 4 days and giving them the chance to sample more events than they have ever been able to before.

A range of exciting new events were added to the schedule for 2021 that included wellness sessions such as boot camp and pilates, social activities to celebrate VTG’s 25th anniversary, and a range of new sporting and recreational events including Kayak Paddleball, a Rainbow Run and Archery Battle. We also saw the return of many VTG favourites, with Barefoot Bowls, Trivia with a Twist, Dodgeball, Netball and Volleyball all featuring across the schedule.

A new VTG website created a fresh new look and provided a range of new information and resources to both new and returning participants. From this, the VTG saw over 13,000 unique visitors to its website and reached over 20,000 individuals via its Facebook page. This new look played a part in attracting over 1,200 first time participants to sign up for VTG.

Thank you to all 2,559 registered participants and to VTG’s partners in the City of Greater Geelong, the Australian Education Union and S-Trend for joining us for what was set to be an amazing journey.

You can find out more about VTG’s achievements in 2021 here.

Rest assured, we are now looking to carry 2021’s momentum over into 2022, where we can achieve even more, and provide Victorian educators with the well-earned rest, rejuvenation, and inspiration that they deserve!

We look forward to celebrating the 25th anniversary of VTG when it returns to the home shores of Geelong from 18-21 September 2022.

See you in 2022 | Geelong | September 18-21 2022

MITCHELL, TEACHER

4 guys who became friends growing up playing basketball locally. All playing for the same state club Corio bay stingrays. Blessed to be able to chuck on some jerseys once again, come back together and relive the good old days.

Thanks VTG for having us,
we had a blast!

COURTNEY, TEACHER

Definitely joining a team of teachers from another school, and managing to take out silver lasertag and bronze in dodgeball! We were amazed and had so much fun! Also, going out to the social events and seeing so many teachers in one spot having a good time!
