The Department of Education is proud to announce the Australian Education Union (AEU) as a major partner of the Victorian Teachers' Games (VTG) for 2025 to 2026 with the event being hosted in Melbourne for the first time.
With the AEU being a foundation partner of the very first VTG event in 1996, this announcement extends the relationship to three decades. Central to the partnership is the AEU’s commitment to promoting the health, wellbeing, and community spirit of Victoria’s educators which is reflected in 98% of surveyed VTG participants in 2024 indicating that participating in VTG benefited their personal health and wellbeing.
Justin Mullaly, AEU Victoria Branch President said:
‘The AEU is proud to continue in 2025 our longstanding partnership with the Victorian Teachers’ Games —especially as the event is held in Melbourne for the very first time. With thousands of teachers, education support staff, and principals enjoying taking part in a wide range of sporting activities and events, we look forward to seeing AEU members getting involved, being active, and having fun in all that the games have to offer!’
Jamie Parsons, CEO School Sport Victoria said:
"We are excited to strengthen our partnership with the Australian Education Union (AEU) in delivering the Victorian Teachers' Games. This partnership aligns with our shared commitment to supporting the wellbeing and professional development of teachers and school staff across Victoria. By working together, we are not only celebrating the hard work and dedication of educators but also creating a vibrant community where health, connection, and teamwork thrive. We look forward to continuing this collaboration and making VTG 2025 an unforgettable experience for all involved."
For VTG 2025 and 2026 the AEU will have a strong presence at VTG Central (Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre), participating in activities, events, and connecting with VTG participants with new member signings receiving an AEU hoodie.
AEU Victoria represents almost 50,000 passionate members, including principals, education support staff, and teachers working across public schools, early childhood education, TAFE, AMES, and disability services.
VTG is delighted to celebrate this ongoing partnership, and we look forward to making 2025 another unforgettable event.
